Streetcars Attract Developers

Posted on Updated on

From Ohio’s Transportation Priorities Task Force Report:

Business travelers, environmentalists and citizens at large have asked that Ohio embrace both intracity and intercity passenger rail in its plans for the transportation system of the future. Passenger rail is a convenient and environmentally sustainable choice for regional travel. In addition, bus rapid transit and intracity rail including streetcars and light rail, offers fixed-line transit, and developers have expressed their preference for fixed-line transit over bus transit because streetcars, for example, show the developer that the public investment will remain for many years to come whereas a bus line can be eliminated quickly. Finally, passenger rail offers a unique attraction that could draw people to Ohio to visit, work and live, thus improving our economy and increasing our population at a faster rate.
