Hundreds attend second monthly Streetcar Social at Rhinegeist

Posted on Updated on

Last night was great! It was the second monthly Streetcar Social hosted by Cincinnatians for Progress.

Mayor Mallory at Streetcar Social

Around 200 streetcar supporters, including Cincinnati Mayor Mallory and several City Council members, showed up to Rhinegeist to socialize and learn more about the current status of the project.

One thing that Mayor Mallory discussed was the maintenance operation facility, which will be built just around the corner from Rhinegeist at Henry Street and Race Street. He revealed that work would soon begin on the facility and informed us all that it will be called the Center of Advanced Streetcar Technology, or COAST for short. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Join us for the next Streetcar Social at Rhinegeist Brewery on July 18

If you missed the first Streetcar Social at The Lackman, we want to make sure you’re aware of the next chance to come hang out with other streetcar supporters.

The July Streetcar Social will be held at the newly opened Rhinegest Brewery, which is on the phase one route. The owners of Rhinegeist are naturally big fans of the streetcar project, and recently told Soapbox Cincinnati that they can’t wait for phase one to open and for it to be expanded to Uptown.

Cincinnatians for Progress (CfP) is hosting the Streetcar Social and it will take place on July 18th from 5:30-8pm. RSVP on Facebook!

CfP organizers say that they’ll be discussing current and future events for the Cincinnati Streetcar project. They will also be providing information about how you can become a “streetcar ambassador” and arm you with key points and fact sheets.

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory will also be on-hand and will make a brief speech about the status of the project, and potentially some other news.

In addition to all the wonky transportation talk, Rhinegeist will give a private tour of the new brewery for CfP’s top supporters. This tour will start at 5pm and will take about 20 minutes. Organizers are also encouraging people to dress accordingly since the space does not have air conditioning.
