The Cincinnati Streetcar Would be Great For: Families

Posted on Updated on

The Cincinnati Streetcar will connect numerous family destinations, especially during the holiday season.  Parents can take the kids downtown, park once, and use the streetcar to get from place to place without having to drive.

Children can go see Santa at Macy’s and then take the streetcar to the Zoo Festival of Lights.

Or have a Belgian Waffle at Findlay Market and take the streetcar to the Duke Energy Holiday Train Display.

After shopping at the unique locally owned shops of the Gatetway Quarter, hop on the streetcar and ride it to the Square to go ice skating, eat Graeter’s ice cream (or hot chocolate) and watch Santa and the Reindeer repell down an office tower as part of Macy’s Downtown Dazzle.

Instead of having to fold up and stow a stroller multiple times and getting the kids in and out of their car seats, the Streetcar will let families come into town, park once, and enjoy all of the holiday entertainment.  Support the Holidays Downtown–Build the Streetcar.

We are just ending our stroller period, but for years having a stroller has helped us get kids and packages around downtown. Strollers work excellent on streetcars, but not so much on buses or even cars for that matter.

Look at Seattle… Streetcars are $3.65M in the red in the first 2 years of operation… Cincinnati should cut millions from the police and fire budgets and see if that is good for families.

think long term… if you build a streetcar… it will certainly be around for longer than 2 years😉
