A Question

Posted on Updated on

Can anyone give an example of either:

1.  A streetcar line being converted to a bus line and gaining ridership, or
2.  A bus being converted to a streetcar line and losing ridership?

I have looked and haven’t found anything.

I can’t either. Buses have lower capacities…so even if both were operating at similar ridership levels, buses max out before streetcars. Net loss.

Unless streetcar operates at below-full capacity while bus runs at full.

The 46 and the 78, for example, run similar routes uptown as the streetcar plans and are regularly full. If people continue onward to Avondale, for example, what use is the streetcar?
